The first private ISP in Syria

After long waiting it looks like it happened. The first private ISP in Syria Aya looks promising.

I still didn’t try the new ISP yet, but I contacted them and asked them a few questions. Comparing it with the other availble ISPs the new ISP Aya looks better in two main points. First, the price is much lower 30 piesta/Min for Dial-up while it is 100 piesta/Min for Dial-up in the other ISPs. Second, and most important, there is absolutely no prox! That means you can use all the Internet services like FTP, Voice and Video conferencing, VPN, Sharing files .. etc etc.

That what Aya agent told me when I contacted the company, and I will be sure as soon as I get my hands on one of their service cards and I will come back to you and tell you what are the results.

Till then, Take care.

ADSL Prices are going down in Syria :)

I heard from some good source that next month the ISP SCS gonna lower the ADSL monthly fee

I heard that the 256Kbit connection is gonna cost 4000 SP ($75) a month. Not that much less but I think it is a start.

I hope they will be able to lower that price much more sooner, because $75 a month still costy specially for average employees in Syria who gets about $150. Plus the proxy is still there standing in our way of using the full power of the internet

I can’t wait until we see a really good and free of Proxy Internet access in here. It will a good reason for me to stay here!

Cya.
